The genome represented by a circle

For a geneticist who works on analyzing the genome of a tumor, the graphic representation of data is crucial. In order not to get lost in the maze of genetic changes, a clever graph was created; a graph that depicts the genome as a circle, on which chromosomal rearrangements are represnted by different-colored, long lines, changes in the number of copies of DNA fragments with short lines and small variants with dots.

Being able to visualize such data and read it is not easy, but it must be said that circos plots have a charm to them.

The infographic here presents a brief instruction on how to read such beautiful graphs.
